drowning in our lies

We started church this week with this Derek Webb song. I was messing around on my phone, and this line brought me quickly to attention...

There are two great lies that I’ve heard
The day you eat of the fruit of that tree you will not surely die
And that Jesus Christ was a white, middle class Republican
And if you wanna be saved you have to learn to be like him

I felt really uncomfortable, but I think that's part of the point. Maybe we need to sing more stuff like this.
